'No' is the right YES

Its quarter past 12 when I started this article. In spite of writing an article on prioritizing the right things, I was hardly following it.

Be it at any point of life which we are in, we tend to say YES in order to not make other person feel bad. It is our natural tendency to accept things given by others, after all we feel people seldom give us anything, so our mind is quite stuck with the feeling to grab anything that’s given.

Be it as small as going out with them for a quick evening coffee and snacks or as big as staying up at night’s for days together to help them with their emotional or intellectual imbalance that’s happening in their life, we make our best not to say NO.

I believe we are brought up in our lives with a mindset instructing us that rejecting something or someone is kind of offending. With this mindset, in spite of knowing that certain things are negative to us, we tend to accept it by saying YES.

The more time we take to say NO to wrong things or things that drain us; we are the ones, who would suffer,

I feel it is much more needed for us to learn to reject and say no to lots of things in our life , the quicker we learn to say no to things that bring us sorrow, the better it is to our life.

At times, “No becomes the right Yes”

After all, you too have got a life of your own that is to filled with positivity and happiness,

Why waste it by filling it out with other’s sorrows and miseries?

The Sense of Satisfaction

Talking to people who makes me feel positive is one of the thing I constantly do. I feel It’s for us to find the positive things in any individual and nurture that relationships.

On one such instance when the conversation was at a good pace, I asked a friend of mine about what she values significantly in her life!

I got a reply saying ‘I value Satisfaction the most’

From quite a long time we have started to give value to lots and lots of tangible objects rather than something intangible in our life. As far as I remember, many people I know, including myself, always used to feel great about prioritizing the tangible things. Something like a house or car or something … the list goes on.

If you ask me, I would definitely accept without any glitch that money plays a very important role in our life. As I always would quote to my friends “I would definitely prefer to cry inside a BMW rather than on a footpath”

But…. what is the happiness of having a BMW if we aren’t satisfied with having it? Why not do something that makes us feel Satisfied?

Of course, For the sense of satisfaction, one may go ahead with a very much positive or a very much negative approach, something like one may never be satisfied with anything in life and would always want more of things or one may never want anything more in their life and be satisfied with what they have.

I feel it’s absolutely necessary for us to strike a balance to know how to get satisfied .... something like……. When to expect more or when to stop expecting…. may it be in all sort of material tangible things or immaterial intangible things.

After all,  any sort of thing is blissful only and only when we feel the absolute sense of Satisfaction.

Consistency is the Key.

My eyes opened as the clock ticked 9 in the morning!! And the dental appointment was scheduled at 9:45. Rushing out of home on a holiday is such a pain!!

My dentist is a jovial person, there would usually be rounds of conversation on random things before the actual treatment began. Of course as I am an “Avid Speaker cum Listener” I love the way how conversation flows.

He started with his own story, to explain me the significance of something called as consistency in anyone’s life, during his internship he worked at a place that paid him the least amount of stipend but, the consistency in the work that he got as an intern made him what he is currently, A Successful Dentist.

Of course he gave me an insight of how consistency can overcome the biggest of the hurdle in one’s life. How small things can lead to bigger changes in one’s lives.

The question arose asking what actually consistency is.

In simple words it is doing things without much diverting from it. You can say, doing anything over and over may not be in the same way, but in a way that is better than the common way!

When I looked at all the failures in my life…. what he said made perfect sense.

Almost all the failures in our lives happen because we lose the consistency in our life, at some point of time we get diverted and also we would start to do things which we shouldn’t be doing in order to avoid the things which we should actually be doing.

It’s something like; we do not stick to any particular field. Of course there are lots of distraction in our lives, be it the Social Medias or the television or the various applications on the smartphones.

Overcoming which surely is a difficult things but,

There surely need to be that one thing absolutely necessary to achieve any goal worth having! i.e Being Consistent on things that you do!!

I would like to end with the quote of Aristotle “we are what we repeatedly do; therefore Excellence is not an act but a habit’

Adapting to the Right Changes.

After a long gap of many months, I started reading the last book of Shiva Trilogy, i.e The Oath of the Vayuputras. Where in a story came about a frog, which went as follows.

‘An unknown scientist had conducted some experiment on frogs’ long time ago. He dropped a frog in a pot of boiling water, The Frog immediately jumped out. He then placed a frog in pot full of cold water; the frog settled down comfortably. The scientist then began raising the temperature of the water gradually over period of time. The frog kept adapting to the increasingly warm and then hot water till it finally died, without any attempt to escape’

As soon as I read the above extract, it came to my mind about how similar is our situation in this life!

Like the nature of the frog, when in our life, we come across something like sudden change, be it good or bad we react quite seriously and try to go away from that change. Even though the change may be for our very own good, the intensity of suddenness makes us to revolt and oppose the change.

Similarly when the change is slow, even if it is like way too much bad for us in longer run, we constantly keep on adapting to that badness in our life. Even when the intensity of badness increases in our life, we try and adapt to it in the faster phase and at one certain point of time when we come to know that the thing is bad, it would be way too late and would be at the last stage.

The issue of Fake notes feels a very appropriate thing to relate into the above context, slowly and stealthily, small amount of fake currencies came into circulations.  We, instead of stopping this bad change by adopting other mode of transaction like card transactions or by e wallet, started to move that same currency. Our only concern was that it went away from us without losing its value before it moves from our hand……

I feel it’s the high time for us to start knowing the difference between what is good and what is bad in our life so that we can react and adapt accordingly rather than accept everything that comes with the flow and creeps very slowly in our life without giving us the hint of its badness.
