Purpose makes a difference.

When I was having a conversation with a close one of mine, he pointed me out the importance of having a purpose in one’s life.

We all do many a thing in our life. Very often knowing what we do and sometimes not knowing what we have done.

Anything that’s done without purpose will surely seem meaningless at some point of time.

Many times it feels utter hopeless when we go on doing something and at the end we don’t even know why we were doing that. Something small example such as opting for a course recommended by someone who feels it as great and you don’t even have a clue why you had opted that for.

For almost everything purposes are of great significance.

Be it anything at any field, if purpose is clearly defined, it would be very successful without doubt.

When someone starts out a business with a well-defined purpose of either making profits or providing good service or for the matter of fact anything, he would flourish well than someone who has started business without any defined purpose.

I believe Purpose comes in every small and big thing that we do. The ‘studying daily’ is for the purpose of getting a good score or improving knowledge. Exercising for a certain amount of time has its own purpose for every individual.

Reading different kind of books may have purpose of improving vocabulary to one and it may have the purpose of entertainment to other or both to yet another individual.

When you become aware of the purpose of the things that you do, there lies a very clear picture about what’s going to happen. There lies a meaning in what you do.

So basically when you finish it you would be happy as well as satisfied that the purpose is achieved rather than be clueless on what was being done.

After all, the purpose of this article was to show the significance of having purpose.

Quickness and Happiness.

In today’s world the thing that is very scarce is ‘ones time’. Everyone is busy with one or the other thing. Nothing wrong, it’s the outcome of the corporate lifestyle which we lead.

We want the things to go quickly. From the food we cook to the internet we use. Being slow isn’t an accepted thing. At times it feels as if being slow is being weak.

Right from the young age we are forced to be quick. When going to school we are said to eat our breakfast quickly. When we want to board a bus, we are said to board it quickly. Even in classes, there is quickness seen while submitting projects or while finishing off the notes.

Even when we grow up ‘The quick’ stuffs won’t slow down. Be it riding a 2 wheeler or driving a car, slow isn’t accepted, even finishing the targets given always seems good if it’s done quickly.

The thinking of ‘Happiness lies at the end’ is stuffed in our head, something like winning at the end of the race or finishing off the exam at the end of the academic year. We feel happiness is derived at the end of the process and try to finish it off quickly.

We apply the ‘Happiness at end’ policy towards everything, which makes us fail to notice the most important thing that is happiness lies in the process and not at the end result.

What we need to understand is doing the things quickly and finishing it off need not always give you happiness.

Enjoying the process of doing anything slowly surely has its own charm.

Coin crunch.

Many a times when we go to shops to buy stuffs, we get few eclairs instead of change. Toffees have almost become the currency nowadays.

The same shortage of coins or ‘The change’ is even seen while using the public transport such as bus or while taking the railway tickets. It’s evident that ‘change’ leads to numerous amount of quarrel in present days than ever before.

Why hasn’t there been a solution to meet the demand for the currency? Is the national bank of the country sleeping?

Absolutely not, how can it sleep when such a big problem lies in front of them?

There has been lot of issues of coins every year; the coin dispensing machines are installed at most of the places and many more steps too are being taken.

In spite of this the problem still persists. Why? Because of the habit which we have! i.e savings, savings in form of collecting the coins, and keeping them hoarded.

In every home we collect coins and save them. Numerous amounts of coins get hoarded even without the knowledge of people.

Not only the money saved by us, but also money put up as donations and contributions in temples, churches, mosques etc. are hoarded.

Why not we people help in minimizing the currency problem by circulating the hoarded coins in our homes? And ask our closes ones to do the same? I am sure lakhs of coins would roll out if we make up our mind to circulate the hoarded coins every week or fortnight.

Something like making certain day of the month as coin circulation day? On the day where we collect the hoarded coins at our home and circulate it?

I am sure the shopkeeper or the bus conductor would be very happy when you hand over him the exact change!

It’s always easy to say these things but hard to make it come into force.

The problem cannot be solved by banks alone; the problem is to be solved collectively. If we don’t make simple changes in our lives for betterment of society, then I feel we would lose the right to complain or blame anyone.

Marks culture.

When it comes to Indian education system, marks do play a very significant role.

Are marks important? Or are marks ‘The only important thing?’ I believe varies from individual to individual.

I was that kind of person who used to firmly say marks are the least important thing in life. Obviously there would be debate on this issue and I would point out the flaws of people scoring high marks and not taking part in any of the extracurricular activities.

I would show examples of people who keep on reading whole of the day and miss out so much of the life that lies ahead of them, the negativity complex which lies in them about going on a stage and talk in front of audience and so the examples would go on quite well.

Till the recent past I used to be proud of my way of thinking regarding the marks.

But once when I stepped into the shoes of a lower middle class person, I gradually came to understand how marks did play an important and a very significant role in their life.

Almost everything was given to the one who scored marks, the endowments, the scholarships, the attentions and what not. I felt when marks can make so much of difference to one’s life; it surely was of a great significance to them.

The perspective of ‘marks are helpful to get settled in life’ has been carved in minds of people. So it isn’t surprising when people put up their full on focus in scoring marks.

We have tended to forget that knowledge is far superior to marks and it’s what that helps us to get well in life. I feel till we keep on uplifting the people with marks, the marks culture won’t come to an end.

The day when the knowledge is valued more than marks, is the day of great significance to everyone.

Success doesn't depend on what you learn, but on what you implement.

When I was reading a blog post on ‘The leader of tomorrow’ by Maxine schiffmann she used a sentence,

‘Success doesn't depend on what you learn, but on what you implement’

Right from a young age we are said that only if we study hard we would excel in exams, only then good companies would hire us and give us a good paying job. We are made to learn and learn but are not taught how to implement what we have learnt.

It seems as if we are so much programmed in our life and are made to learn so many things. Starting back from the kg classes we were taught various subjects, as we grew up the things we learn multiplied. From mere addition and subtractions we moved to algebra, physics, management and much more things.

For much of our life we keep on learning various things and what next! No one knows!

I feel I have not implemented the 90 percent of the things which I have learnt in my life.

Just learning without implementing isn’t a useful thing. It’s something like I have gone to marketing and sales classes, learnt the ways of selling an item by numerous techniques but, I am not stepping out to do sales.

Another example is of learning everything about healthy exercises and diet plans and yoga for a healthy lifestyle and not implementing anyone of them in our life.

If we just keep learning and don’t implement anything that we have learnt then it’s something like being very much stagnant, there are lakhs of people in this world who have learnt so many things but have failed to implement them. They are same now as they were when they had started their life, almost without any progress.

The counting of the progress starts as soon as we start to implement the things that we have learnt. It’s very much useless in just knowing the things without implementing them.

I strongly feel the line said by Maxine does have a greater meaning in itself.

Surely the success doesn’t depend on what we just learn; without a doubt it depends on what we implement’

Happiness.

In the current lifestyle which we follow, it’s a usual thing to be stressful. Obviously the hectic work schedules of the employees, the never ending tuition and extra coaching classes of the kids. The pressure to get a good career for the college students are few reasons for the stress.

Amidst these hectic schedules we have lost something known as ‘Being Happy’.

Happiness is hardly seen anywhere today. When we walk across the street in a city, more than 90 percent of the people will surely appear very much occupied with their stress.

The concepts of happiness are very much misunderstood nowadays. It’s thought something as getting more things or being ahead of someone.

Few things like getting more likes for a profile picture on Facebook are considered as happiness now. When another person gets more likes surely this happiness vanishes soon, why? Because it seems as if that person has won something and we have lost.

Many a times! Even when a person gets a job with a good pay he doesn’t seem happy, the reason may even be as small as some cousin of his is being paid more! We often start to feel happy when we are better than someone else.

What we forget is when another person overtakes us the happiness which we have got is soon lost and every time someone does something better or gets something better we start to get a churn in our stomach.

We have narrowed the concept of happiness to a great extent and have actually forgotten numerous reasons which lie right in front of us for being happy.

Few small things such as being happy on receiving complement for the new dress that we have worn or something as being happy when mom makes a tasty dish or when a best friend gives a tight hug for supporting him are things to be cherished.

It just takes little efforts from our side to be happy.

When we stop comparing ourselves with others and get out of the mentality of ‘The more we have the happier we are’ then, we would start seeing happiness in small things that are around us and our life would be much happier.

Accept rejections.

Yesterday I was talking to an old classmate of mine and she said me it would be almost like dying to face a rejection from anyone.

It surely gave me a thought about the rejections, why people are so afraid of rejections! Many a times we want to do certain things but we fail to do in fear of being rejected.

Be it something small such as talking to a good looking lady who stays in your area. You get creeps in your minds about her rejecting to talk to you, a thing that might hurt your ego or self-respect.

Moving a little further, In spite of you being a nice person, when you propose someone and that person rejects you for being average on looks!, Ah sounds Bad!

But what’s wrong in accepting the reality? Yes! I am being rejected by someone. No doubt it’s painful, but it’s far better than sitting idle and not trying at all.

Not only in these ‘pretty ones’ things! In many aspects of life you may face rejections! The painting you drew may be rejected to be auctioned, the photograph you clicked may be rejected or even a book which you have written with full dedication may be rejected to get published.

No matter what, you can’t just impress few people. It’s the reality! It’s better for us to know that it’s okay not to impress the ‘FEW’ when there are lots more people who are impressed by us.

Yes! It’s okay to get rejected and it’s absolutely not shameful.

Rejections should always give you a push to do and be better. It shouldn’t hinder you by creating insecurity and negativity around yourself.

Let the desire inside you to succeed be more than the fear of being rejected!
