The Problem of being selectively educated.

I am a regular follower of Preeti shenoy’s blog. An article written by kavitha rao was shared by her, which prompted me to write this piece of thought.

We Indians are well known for lots and lots of good things around the world. The list would be endless of course. But at times it feels there are few of the issues which doesn’t seem quite good from our end.

One among them is selective education. We have developed such a mentality among ourselves that we have totally bifurcated certain kinds of job for certain people. We would never bother about understanding or taking care of that particular job because we feel there are other people in our life to take care of it.

Something like, the banking and financial aspects are said to be handled by the dad/husband of the house. Few simple things such as depositing the money or filling the form to do a fund transfer or any related issue could not be done by few. When I notice people from my own circle, there are many who feel that for banking issues there is their brother or their father/husband to handle, so they think it’s not their part of worry.

The above is just a small example of many other issues. What actually happens is we as an individual are not taught to be independent. We are not taught to do our work ourselves. For most of the issues we are dependent on one or many other persons.

Though we may say the situation hasn’t arisen for us to be too independent. The reality is, what if the situation arises wherein we have to do the so called other’s job all by ourselves? Wouldn’t it be really difficult for us to adjust to doing the small and essential independent works?

Why not inculcate a habit of teaching all kinds of essential work which they can do independently to the younger generation rather than just make them learn which we feel as the most important thing for their life?

A small change in our way of approach can help us or the generation to come in future very effectively, instead of following selective education its good if we are into that kind of learning where in it would be easier to lead life independently without depending on our other half or family or friends.
