After shifting to the wonderful city ‘Bangalore’ to get my
article training, it seems as if thoughts have minimized to flow in my mind,
maybe with the corporate lifestyle it might take quite some time for thoughts
to creep in.
When I was heading back to Bangalore from my home town after a
short visit, the bus entered the city at around 5 in the morning. The awesome
weather was one thing which anyone would love for. With the deep desire for a
sound sleep, the last thing anyone would expect at 5am was a ‘Traffic Jam’
Hundreds of busses coming towards city from various far off
places, honking without a break! Trying to overtake each other in order to
reach its destination very quickly. It at times feels as if all the drivers on
the wheels have got an ultimate power of judgment in respect of distance
between next vehicles.
At times there might be uncomfortable feeling inside us to use
public transport which makes us opt for our very own two or four wheeler. The
reasons may be many to not opt for the public transport starting from the
social status to extra distance and time consumed due to using public transport
or it may also be getting delayed by being stuck in middle of nowhere inside
the public transport or the time wasted waiting for it and
the reasons goes on.
When too much of people start using their own vehicle for
comfortable travelling and time savings, the rate of traffic jam exceeds. Along
with already huge number of vehicle in public transport as well as other means
such as auto or cabs, there is an addition of our vehicle causing extra burden.
Even though theoretically there are many solutions to these
problems, like carpooling, or using deluxe busses for comfortable travel or as
seen in our capital, following the odd even number plate rule, practically it
might not be easy to apply.
This situation kind of feels like a vicious circle, i.e for the
discomfort of using public transport we use own vehicle and by using our own
vehicle we are causing more discomfort in the traffic.
I feel it’s a high time for us to think of some practically
applicable ideas to minimize traffic congestion very quickly, after all, the
beneficiary of that ideas would obviously be US.
