Speaking about the Dead.

The roads were filled with vehicles on the Sunday evening, the horns of vehicles echoing all around the ears and the signal turned red making the traffic to stand still. The traffic signal board was displaying 140, 139, 138…….

There was a weird kind of model that was made, something like a tableau of a decorated boat! Of course there was a banner hanging with a picture of a man in it and the band played the local music with few people dancing around the tableau.

There were people around talking and praising some person, naming the good deed done by him and few others’ eyes were filled with tears.
It took me a while to understand that they actually were carrying a dead man for cremation.

Death is quite a thing for us the humans, at times during death we start to say good things about dead, that too only when he is no longer able to hear them. And for whole of the life when he is present, not a single word of praise is done for the good deeds of that person!

Why is that it’s always too late to say anything significant to the person that would make him happy or a better person?

It always made me think why is that we only say the most important thing to be said to the person only when he or she is no longer there to hear them? What’s actually the use of saying good things at that point of time?

Making a little change in our routine lifestyle how about we say those things we feel to that person the moment we feel it?

Of course it’s quite complicated! Obviously you may get your nerves chilled but at least the person to whom you want to convey what you felt is surely conveyed.

There would always be that kind of satisfaction inside you and less regrets of not able to say the things that you always wanted to say.

Speaking the thoughts of the receiver, he would obviously be happy if anything good is said about him, and if anything said for him to be a better person, he would be very much satisfied to hear that at least there’s someone who’s been caring about him and wants him to be someone better.

The horns were honking when I came back from my thoughts, the traffic signal showed 2 green arrows and I resumed my journey to the destination.

Craving and Willpower.

In life, without doubt everyone has an extreme desire to succeed. In one way or the other we want to be the best at some or the other field. Without doubt there is a great difference between the desire to succeed and to actually succeed.

As I was sitting and sipping my coffee, I once again wondered what actually stopped the desire to convert itself into the success that we always want.

When we make up our mind to do something or be something, there would be a strong power inside, which will drive us towards the path.

As and when the time passes, the strong power obviously fades, how would it fade would be the question? I feel it’s because of the thing called ‘craving’ that creeps in different forms. Which blocks the view of our actual goal.

Craving often comes as a slow poison, where in we wouldn’t even notice its effect of poisoning us.

In my case I feel craving have come in form of movies and TV shows, instead of studying for a serious exam ahead this craving is blocking the path.

Craving can be in almost all forms, which would often be the contradictory path of your goal. Craving may come in the form of deep desire to eat chats or chocolates and sweets or some unhealthy stuff when you would be having a goal to maintain a fit body.

Sometimes craving may be to sleep for a longer duration than to wake up at decent time and start your important work if not to do the extra meditation or yoga!

Craving may also be to play candy crush or clash of clans rather than go out and play badminton or table tennis which would be actually healthier to you physically.

The appropriate term to be said would be ‘Procrastination’, for almost all, at maximum number of times, the powerful desire for doing something contradictory to their goal always arises.

Why? Because fulfilling their craving gives them the instant pleasure needed, but sadly it would not last long as expected.

The moment when we make our mind and actually start to kick out our craving, the moment when we give more respect and heed to our will power, is the moment when our life would start to be positively awesome.

Of course nothing is easy to get rid off!

It would take long time for will power to conquer the craving. But nothing is impossible. I would like to quote a line from the movie Bangalore days here which would relate to this article,

‘The only thing that stands between who you are and who you want to be is………‘YOU’’

It would only be you who can set the things right and make your own life awesome.

Dependency or Independency?

The term dependency and independence were revolving round my head form quite a long time. When I wrote my last post I had got a bit of thought regarding that, now with some more thoughts I write the following post.

It’s a common feel to think that the word dependency usually means depending monetarily or physically on some another individual. Of course without doubt those are dependency itself, but when we think of developing ourselves beyond a certain pre-determined boundary, then there is a need to be independent not only monetarily and physically but also be very much independent with what we think as well as how our thoughts would affect us mentally and emotionally.

Very often, our thoughts and emotions are very much dependent on the people around us. Either good or bad, people around us have a lot of influence on what we think and on how we feel.

Almost all of the times our thinking process very much takes into consideration the response, as well as the feeling of the people around us. Even when we have to start certain kind of work, I feel our mind gives us the input of prospective replies of the people around us, even though they may not have any reply to us.

There is a great amount of dependency on our part at most of the time even when taking small or big decisions. Unless we permit ourselves to think independently, and those thoughts would not depend on other people’s reaction, I feel we would not be independent at all till that time.

I am of the feeling that avoiding those kinds of persons who have a negative approach towards life is one of the best ways to avoid a bad decision. They are the ones who would make us think in a different approach which wouldn’t be thought if we were ourselves.

When we trust ourselves to decide what we want in our life, we wouldn’t allow external forces to discourage or have bad influence on us so, why not we be independent with our thoughts and flourish than be dependent and hinder in our life?

The Problem of being selectively educated.

I am a regular follower of Preeti shenoy’s blog. An article written by kavitha rao was shared by her, which prompted me to write this piece of thought.

We Indians are well known for lots and lots of good things around the world. The list would be endless of course. But at times it feels there are few of the issues which doesn’t seem quite good from our end.

One among them is selective education. We have developed such a mentality among ourselves that we have totally bifurcated certain kinds of job for certain people. We would never bother about understanding or taking care of that particular job because we feel there are other people in our life to take care of it.

Something like, the banking and financial aspects are said to be handled by the dad/husband of the house. Few simple things such as depositing the money or filling the form to do a fund transfer or any related issue could not be done by few. When I notice people from my own circle, there are many who feel that for banking issues there is their brother or their father/husband to handle, so they think it’s not their part of worry.

The above is just a small example of many other issues. What actually happens is we as an individual are not taught to be independent. We are not taught to do our work ourselves. For most of the issues we are dependent on one or many other persons.

Though we may say the situation hasn’t arisen for us to be too independent. The reality is, what if the situation arises wherein we have to do the so called other’s job all by ourselves? Wouldn’t it be really difficult for us to adjust to doing the small and essential independent works?

Why not inculcate a habit of teaching all kinds of essential work which they can do independently to the younger generation rather than just make them learn which we feel as the most important thing for their life?

A small change in our way of approach can help us or the generation to come in future very effectively, instead of following selective education its good if we are into that kind of learning where in it would be easier to lead life independently without depending on our other half or family or friends.

The Vicious Circle

After shifting to the wonderful city ‘Bangalore’ to get my article training, it seems as if thoughts have minimized to flow in my mind, maybe with the corporate lifestyle it might take quite some time for thoughts to creep in.

When I was heading back to Bangalore from my home town after a short visit, the bus entered the city at around 5 in the morning. The awesome weather was one thing which anyone would love for. With the deep desire for a sound sleep, the last thing anyone would expect at 5am was a ‘Traffic Jam’

Hundreds of busses coming towards city from various far off places, honking without a break! Trying to overtake each other in order to reach its destination very quickly. It at times feels as if all the drivers on the wheels have got an ultimate power of judgment in respect of distance between next vehicles.
At times there might be uncomfortable feeling inside us to use public transport which makes us opt for our very own two or four wheeler. The reasons may be many to not opt for the public transport starting from the social status to extra distance and time consumed due to using public transport or it may also be getting delayed by being stuck in middle of nowhere inside the public transport or the time wasted waiting for it and the reasons goes on.

When too much of people start using their own vehicle for comfortable travelling and time savings, the rate of traffic jam exceeds. Along with already huge number of vehicle in public transport as well as other means such as auto or cabs, there is an addition of our vehicle causing extra burden.

Even though theoretically there are many solutions to these problems, like carpooling, or using deluxe busses for comfortable travel or as seen in our capital, following the odd even number plate rule, practically it might not be easy to apply.

This situation kind of feels like a vicious circle, i.e for the discomfort of using public transport we use own vehicle and by using our own vehicle we are causing more discomfort in the traffic.

I feel it’s a high time for us to think of some practically applicable ideas to minimize traffic congestion very quickly, after all, the beneficiary of that ideas would obviously be US.
